Good heavens!! what memories. We lived in Axbridge (Trego Cottage on the square) and I went to this school! as did my brother Billy. I was there in about 1958!!.....I was always getting into trouble with the headmistress as I kept chewing the ends of my pencil!! My teacher would put all the bits on a piece of paper and frog march me into the headmistress!!! Ooo getting all nostalgic now!!

I wonder if anyone can help me? I am trying to find out information about my husbands grandfather who was a border in Axbridge in 1891. I believe he attended school in Axbridge could it be this one? Perhaps you might know if there was any other schools at that time in the area. He was aged 8 years old. Can I say that I am impressed by the positive comments you are receiving for the school. Thank you.

I went to Axbridge School 1950 - 55. Mr Jones was the headmaster then a welshman who sometimes read to us, serialising books.

My mother, Grace Julia Askem, was evacuated to Axbridge, living with Arthur and Beatrice Sargeant across from the police station in the 1940s. She lost many friends in the air disaster.
